Drawing and Painting Major
LCAD's Fine Arts department provides entering students an immersive curriculum that offers a robust learning experience in representational cartoon, painting and sculpture with an emphasis placed on academic figuration that serves as a jumping off betoken. Aslope the building of skills, our courses encourage experimentation with materials and exploration of individual ideas and motivations to broaden pupil's visual linguistic communication, culminating in the development of a body of work that is authentic to each artist.
Students inbound senior year are provided a private studio infinite to piece of work for the entirety of their terminal year, where they are mentored individually and appoint in disquisitional discourse with their peers and distinguished guests. The Fine Arts department offers a BFA in Drawing and Painting, in improver to an Emphasis in Illustration and an Emphasis in Sculpture.
Figurative Sculpture Emphasis
Our undergraduate Sculpture Emphasis gives students the skills to produce ¼ life-size to monumental sculptures that convey contemporary narrative themes. Our Sculpture curriculum is based in classical techniques and prepares students to enter the competitive field of sculpture past gaining commissions, exhibiting as gallery artists, obtaining public grants, and/or branching out into the entertainment and special effects industries.
Illustration Emphasis
The Cartoon + Painting with Illustration Accent zeroes in on the fine art world constitute at the intersection of fine arts and illustration to set up you to piece of work in both traditional and mixed media arts. The plan's curriculum volition hone imaginative narratives with design-based aesthetics for commercial and not-commercial applications.
Through both skill building and professional studies curriculum, this emphasis will permit you to have advantage of the representational training of the Cartoon + Painting major. You likewise will gain experience in exhibition, branding, and entrepreneurial skills that will help you to succeed as an independent artist working in a visual mode that reflects Imaginative Realism, Pop Surrealism, and landscape arts.
Atelier Scholarship
LCAD is where high value is placed on timeless skills. All LCAD Approved Atelier students admitted to LCAD's BFA programs in Drawing & Painting are guaranteed at least $30,000 in scholarships. *Amount based on four-year caste track, a minimum 2.0 GPA and enrolled in at least nine units each semester. 12 units of transfers are accustomed of atelier training based on contact hours.
